About Us

The Oregon Stamp Society was founded in 1916 as the Beaver Stamp Society.  (Oregon is known as the “Beaver State.”) This organization became Branch No. 68 of the American Philatelic Society in 1926. The Beaver Stamp Society was voted out of existence in 1927 when the name was changed to the Oregon Stamp Society.

Our official publication, The Album Page, began publication in 1959 and soon became a monthly journal. The Album Page was established at the time that efforts began to acquire the former Portland fire station #34 for use as a meeting house.

The Oregon Stamp Society acquired Portland fire station #34 from the City of Portland in 1960. It is our permanent home and we are very proud of it. Over the years it has grown to be a center for Stamp Collectors and a Community Resource for a number of other non-profit organizations.
